Endometriosis – Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Endometriosis is a condition where the uterus lining is found in uncommon places such as Fallopian tube, Pelvic region and near Ovaries. This endometrium growth found in places other than Uterus has no way to escape from places other than Uterus. Endometrium tissues and growth found in fallopian tube and ovaries in a few days convert into cysts.

Causes of Endometriosis

The cause for Endometriosis is conceptually unknown. But several theories make interesting facts regarding the evolution of Endometriosis. Endometriosis is understood to be caused due to the retrograde movement menstrual fluids back to the uterus and into fallopian tube. Even though some experts don’t agree to this fact, it is present as a question of how the condition is caused and what exactly triggers Endometriosis in women.

Another myth suggests that Endometriosis is genetic.

  • In some women, the Endometriosis causing cells are present right from their Embryonic state.
  • While some say that bloodstream in the body carries Endometriosis cells all over. So exact singular cause for Endometriosis is not known and finalized.

Symptoms of Endometriosis

Regular Menstrual Cramps are common indications that indicate the presence of Endometriosis. Usual Menstrual cramps differ from the symptoms of Endometriosis. Women with Endometriosis, experience Menstrual cramps every period with increase in pain every time. This is one of the important symptom to note for. Women experiencing such pain explain that they feel stressed more than others. They often go depressed thinking of Menstrual pain and say that they are unable to go ahead with their day to day work.

Cramps and pain occur for women suffering from Endometriosis towards their Menstrual Cycle and even after a couple of days later too. Few also experience heavy bleeding which is unusual. Improper Bowel movements along with lower back pain also form symptoms of Endometriosis. One of the most experienced condition which is considered a symptom for Endometriosis is where women experiencing problem in becoming pregnant.

Diagnosis

Endometriosis can be diagnosed by the above symptoms. Laparoscopy is also a process employed to diagnose the presence of Endometriosis. Laparoscopy procedure is performed to understand about the existing development of the Endometriosis inside the Uterus and Fallopian tube. It gives a clear view for the doctors to understand about the severity and act accordingly after which the decision to go with surgery or medication is decided.

Treatment for Endometriosis

The treatment for Endometriosis varies from Person to person. It is up to the doctor to decide on what sort of treatment to be offered. Hormonal treatment is offered to understand the ability of the body on how it is responding to recovery. Usually the treatment varies from one person to other as stated above. Age factor, Patients with diabetes, blood pressure, thyroid, obesity, cancer or other complications might be offered treatment after studying their medical history and understanding their attributes towards the life they lead.

For women who are to become pregnant, they are offered GnRH treatment for six months. After six months, the condition is observed and they can able to get conceived. Although during the treatment the chances of becoming pregnant is minimum, they can conceive after the six months with no pain. Surgical procedures for treating Endometriosis will most probably ensures it doesn’t appear again. But the treatment history suggests that the percentage of women having been treated for Endometriosis have clarified doubts and disclosed that they have responded well for non-surgical treatment.
